I started painting in oils because I was drawn to the different qualities I could achieve in my painting - although people often comment that they can see the influence of pastels in my work. I have found that if I want to achieve the same vibrancy of colour with pastels, I need to use high-quality paint.

My style is very much alla prima, so I can capture the immediacy of light in the moment.
